Terminal 3 at Malaga Airport opens
King inaugurates new terminal at Malaga Airport
After 5 years of careful planning Terminal 3 at Pablo Ruiz Picasso Airport in Malaga was opened by King Juan
Carlos who was accompanied by Queen Sofia. Addressing a strong crowd of over 550 of institutional representatives
from political, touristic, economic, aeronautical and communication spheres,
describing the new building as "light and transparent" and in keeping with its "advanced
technology", also stressing that the extension of the aerodrome would energise
the economic and tourist activity of AndalucĂa. He added "The Queen joins me
to express our happiness at the inauguration of this new, modern and splendid
terminal T3 of Malaga Airport. 
This will reinforce its prominent position in
the dense network of airports in Spain". However, he also made clear
the fact that the airport's influence would transcend regional boundaries, making
it an important part of "the wide and extensive modernisation of airport infrastructure" that
will ensure "greater internal mobility and cohesion as well as better international
connections".

16 March 2010 saw the first day of Malaga Airport Terminal 3 in full operation and did not experience any problems with a near on
perfect opeing day in terms of operations and flights. Terminal 3 at Malaga Airport handled some 16,000 passengers on its first
operational day with punctuality at virtually 100%. Terminal 3 at Malaga Airport not only boasts many new modern features and services
it also has an amazing commercial centre with some of Spain's and the UK's largest retailers and outlets queuing up for a unit with
over 6,000 m2 of eating and drinking zones and 2,800 m2 of retail space. The new food hall at Terminal 3 Malaga Airport will be
the largest in Europe and is set to make Malaga Airport one of the most popular and most visited International airports.
